Aerial view of San Onofre Nuclear Generating StationThe San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) were built by union craftsmen and today, union building trades men and women continue to work on all maintenance at the plants under the General Presidents Maintenance Agreement, a national agreement through the Building and Construction Trades Department and the San Diego County Building Trades Council. With over 5 million man hours each year, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Stations employs hundreds of workers to maintain its operations.

This facility, owned by Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas and Electric and the City of Riverside, can generate 2,200 megawatts of power, enough to meet the needs of 1.4 million average homes at a point in time.
