At the San Diego County Building and Construction Trades Council, we are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within our unions. We recognize the importance of challenging outdated stereotypes that suggest construction is not a place for women. To combat these messages and create new opportunities, we launched a week-long Construction Bootcamp specifically for high school-aged girls.

Held during the summer break, this bootcamp is designed to build confidence, empower young women, and equip them with valuable skills that can lead to a successful career in the trades. Through hands-on activities, mentorship from experienced journeywomen, and quality instruction, we are helping more women see themselves in the construction industry—and thrive.

Opportunity, diversity, fairness, and the ability to work your way into the middle class are core values of the SDBTC. We are dedicated to working with our affiliates and signatory contractors to provide top-tier training in an ever-evolving environment. Our mission is to ensure that our communities are aware of the life-changing opportunities that a career in the Building Trades can offer to them and their families.
